Abbey pupils celebrate outstanding success with outstanding GCSE results.

Fifth year students at the Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School, Newry are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results today.

A delighted Principal, Mrs Gina Savage, congratulated all the students who received their GCSE results after five years’ hard work in the Abbey. Over 97% of the year group succeeded in gaining seven or more passes at GCSE, with 92% achieving passes in 9 or more subjects. and an incredible 20 students achieved 9A*/A grades or above. Mrs Savage paid tribute to Mr Sloan, Mr Ruddy and the hard working staff, both teaching and non-teaching and thanked them for all their efforts and dedication to the welfare of their students. She also acknowledged the strong school-parental links that helped the boys to achieve their best in these very challenging times and said she was looking forward in her new role to continuing to strengthen these links.

The Principal, Mrs Gina Savage, along with Head of Year, Mr Mark Grogan, and Head of Key Stage, Senior Teacher, Mr Mark Rodgers, celebrate with students from the Abbey who achieved at least 8 or more A*/A grades in their GCSE examinations. Included Michael Comer, Euan O’Neill, Ethan Hogg, Cillian McAleavey, Thomas McGivern, Louis Smith, Ben Buchanan, Mark Gallagher, Matthew McArdle, Tom O’Sullivan, Shea Agnew, Ben Browne, Mark Goodman, Dylan McDermott, James Woods, Rory Goss, Oliver de Rose, Aedan McGivern, Matthew Sweeney, Niall Cassidy, Lui Duffy, Dylan McGreevy, Niall Savage and Oliver Reel.

The Principal Mrs Gina Savage, along with Mr Rodgers and Mr Grogan congratulate our top achiever, Michael Comer who attained 10 A*s and 1 A in his GCSE results. Michael’s dad Shane Comer is also included. Well done, Michael!
