Abbey Ski Trip 2024

The 2024 Abbey CBGS ski trip departed today (Saturday 20th January 2024) and what a day it was:

Day 1:

Our skiers have arrived safe & sound in Italy. All tucked up & ready for an early, 7am start tomorrow.

Looking forward to the updates throughout the next 7 days from our staff and students.

Day

– “Bambi on Ice” springs to mind

What a day! Excellent ski conditions, stunning weather, great company and as always, our boys rose to the challange.

Day two was a complete success, finishing off with round one of the Abbey CBGS Sport Italia, this eveing.

We will sleep well tonight. Everyone is safe & sound!

Day 3

on the slopes

Another fantastic day had by all. Some conquered green, blue, red and some even dared the black run. After a fun filled day of skiing on the Alps, we spent our evening in the local pizzeria. The pizza’s were cooked by a very famous Italian footballer, that goes by the name “Guiseppe Lanzotti”.

That’s us off to bed early to rest the tired legs for another fantastic day of skiing tomorrow.

Day 4, on the slopes

Another successful day on the Alps was had by all. The favourable weather conditions, well-groomed slopes, and sheer determination of the Abbey students enabled them to progress their skill levels, considerably.

Today we laughed, we fell, but most importantly we made memories, we built bonds, we cheered each other on whilst enjoying the stunning alpine scenery.

This evening we are keeping our team spirits high with a very exciting and competitive Ping Pong competition.

Well done to everyone!

Day 5, on the Alps

Sun was shining, the Abbey boys were smiling and elegantly hugging the snow. What a day!

This evening après ski activities involved an exciting and competitive quiz night.

Well done to everyone, especially our Adult team who won. Team ‘Warrior’ came a close second place with a one point difference.

A special mention to Eddie who woke up bright and early to take beautiful drone pictures as the sun rose over the Alps

Day 6 – Skiing on the beautiful Alps

An excellent day had by all. Some ventured onto steeper slopes with lots of unexpected twists and turns. Some even face-planted into the soft fluffy snow, but we don’t name names!

Some might say, skiing in the Alps is like trying to dance gracefully with two planks strapped to your feet – a graceful disaster!

Today, some mastered the art of looking fabulous while sliding down the slope on their back.

It really was an excellent day, filled with fun and laughter.

This evening we feel very privileged to have been invited to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show which saw the fantastic ski instructors ski down the slope at night holding fire torches. It really was a sight to behold!

This evening après ski entertainment involved the Abbey students competing in the sports Italia Basketball competition.

It’s off to bed tonight with an early start as tomorrow will be our last ski day on the Alps.
