First Year Sports Competition

Today, 76 Abbey men in Year 8, had their dream realised when they pulled on an Abbey jersey and played competitive football, in big school, for the very first time. Thank you to our neighbours, St Paul’s Bessbrook, for making the short journey to the Ashgrove Road.

What we saw today were 3 very sporting and competitive games, which for a lot of our players were against their team club mates.

Many thanks to our Year 8 coaches and student mentors, who have been facilitating after school Football For All.

This was a fitting way to end this 6 week block of football. We now look forward to our next block of after school activities where the boys will get the opportunity to play hurling.
