ABBEY A-LEVEL TECHNOLOGY PUPIL IS THIRD IN NORTHERN IRELAND

James Dickson is congratulated by Mr Dermot McGovern, Headmaster, Abbey Christian Brothers’ Grammar School, Newry for being awarded 3rd Place in Northern Ireland in A Level Technology and Design (Systems and Design) by CCEA in last Summer’s examinations. James achieved an A* grade in this subject and for his A2 coursework he designed an electronic security system for a bicycle that stopped a thief from stealing it. This innovative product required the bicycle owner to activate a combination of switches to release a locking system so that the handlebars were free to turn the front wheel. James also studied Mathematics and Physics for A Level and is presently studying Physics at Queens University, Belfast. Also included is his Technology Teachers, Mr John Rath, Senior Teacher and Mr Mark Rodgers.
