Re-Gen Waste Visit

Date Posted: 24th February 2023

🔴⚫️🌕The Abbey would like to extend a huge thank you to Louth McMahon, an Abbey past pupil, a mechanical engineer and Group Technical Development and R&D Manager for local firm Re-Gen, for coming in just before the mid-term break to talk to our A level Construction, ICT, Computer Science and Technology students about construction, IT and engineering roles within Re-Gen.
The students learned that Re-Gen was founded in 2004 by three Abbey past pupils and brothers, Aidan, Colin and Joseph Doherty and about the various operations, areas of expansion and opportunities within the Re-Gen company.
Mr McMahon discussed the research and development of new materials from recycled substances within the Re-Gen Waste branch of the company, about Re-Eng, Connex Offsite Modular Construction, Re-Gen Robotics and the new SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) Plant. He explained the job opportunities within the company ranged from Accounts, Engineering, Mechatronics, Transport/Logistics, Production, Business Development/Sales, Policy, which he explained is vital to the business, Commodities, HR, Marketing Media, Digital Sciences, Data Analytics and Data Capture.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the talk and left with a lot to reflect on as regards their future pathways. Thank you again to Mr McMahon for his inspirational presentation and his kind invitation to the Construction Department for a site visit to the Connex Plant at the Loughbrook Industrial Estate which we and the students really look forward to visiting in the very near future!
