MacRory Medal and Jersey Presentation Evening

Saturday 20th June 2026 – Carrickdale Hotel

The Carrickdale Hotel provided the perfect setting on Saturday evening for the Abbey’s MacRory Medal and Jersey Presentation, a special occasion dedicated to recognising the achievements of our MacRory Cup squad and management team.

The evening celebrated a remarkable group of young men and the staff who have represented our school with distinction, commitment and pride throughout their journey. It was an opportunity to reflect on a memorable season and acknowledge the dedication, teamwork and resilience that have defined this exceptional group.

For many of the players, the presentation marked their final official gathering together as an Abbey team before beginning the next chapter of their lives beyond school. While they now move forward on different paths, they do so having forged lifelong friendships and created memories that will remain with them forever. We wish each of them every success and happiness in the years ahead.

Awards and commemorative jerseys were presented by Mr Seamus Woods of Ulster Schools GAA, whose presence added further significance to the occasion. The evening was also attended by members of staff and former principals, whose continued support reflects the importance of Gaelic games within the Abbey community and the lasting bonds shared across generations.

The event proved to be everything we had hoped for and more—a fitting celebration of friendship, commitment, achievement and the values that lie at the heart of Abbey life. It was a wonderful opportunity for players, families, coaches and staff to come together and honour a team that has brought great pride to our school.

As the evening concluded, there was a strong sense that while this chapter has come to an end, the connection these young men have with the Abbey will endure for years to come.
