Geography Trip To Italy

Date Posted: 1st October 2024

Day 1

What a super day 1️⃣ with a super bunch of lads.
The Geography trip spent today touring Rome taking in the spectacular sights of the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum and Trajan’s Column, amongst others. A day spent in glorious sunshine with temperatures reaching a glorious 25 C ☀️and of course plenty of pasta and pizza was consumed.
We travel to Sorrento tomorrow to begin the second leg of our tour.

An early start for our Geography trip to Italy 🍕🇮🇹🍝.

What an amazing itinerary for the next 5 days.

First stop Rome and then onto Sorrento.

Sorrento ✅
20000 steps 🚶‍➡️
We travelled to Sorrento today to take in the sights and sounds of this beautiful town with the most stunning views.
We are really looking forward to our day tomorrow, with a boat tour around the Isle of Capri 🇮🇹

Day 3
Another super day in Italy for our Geographers 🇮🇹
We set off for Capri, taking a boat tour around the island, followed by a Pizza making workshop. Let’s hope the skills taught today are brought back home to Ireland.
All this and we still have the highlight of this trip yet to come. Tomorrow, we set off for Vesuvius and Pompeii, to scale 1281 metres of the most dangerous volcano in the world.

Day 4
Day 4️⃣ most definitely goes down as the highlight of this trip for our Geographers. Talk about bringing Geography to life.
Our visit to Vesuvius and Pompeii exceeded all our expectations. It was simply fantastic and highly recommended. 🌋
Not only this, but we got to meet Historian and BBC presenter, Dan Snow, who was filming a documentary in Pompeii. We were able to remind him his father, Peter Snow, visited the Abbey in the not too distant past (excuse the pun 😉)

Day 5
After months of preparation, meetings, planning, checking passports, booking buses and finalising an itinerary, the Geography Department’s trip to Rome and Sorrento is now over.

44 students and staff are on their way up the road from Dublin airport, safe and well, having had the most fantastic experience, making life long memories.

On National Teachers Day, thank you to the staff, and indeeed all our teaching staff, who go above and beyond every day for our young people.

Pizza anyone?
